Arcana Studio is proud to announce our triumphant trifecta – Winning the 1st Annual SHUSTER AWARDS for Outstanding Canadian Comic Book Publisher on April 30th at the Paradise Comics Toronto Comicon, followed by Stefani Rennee (Ant’s colorist) nomination for Best Colorist in the 2005 HARVEY AWARDS, and finally, Arcana Studio’s FREE COMIC BOOK DAY contribution, ARCANA STUDIO PRESENTS #2, which will be available this Saturday, May 7th.

With all this excitement, it has been quite a week for us!

Saturday, April 30th at the Paradise Comics Toronto Comicon (Canada’s largest comic book convention) saw Arcana Studio take top honors in the freshly christened SHUSTER AWARDS. Arcana Studio, in its second year of publishing, won the Outstanding Canadian Comic Book Publisher Award. Sean O’Reilly, Arcana Studio’s publisher and owner, offered this reflection, “As a Canadian, something like The Shusters is a real honor! Not only to be recognized, but to win… well, when I heard the announcement, I felt a lump in my throat. I was that excited! And now that we’ve won, it’s time to defend this title for 2006!”

To follow up that victory, all of us at Arcana were extremely pleased to read the announcement that Stefani Rennee, of our coloring house Arcana White Castle, has received a HARVEY AWARD nomination for Best Colorist! In his career, Stefani has splashed his palette across Ant, Starkweather, and a number of other Arcana titles. After the announcement, Stefani was so excited about this accolade that he could only say, “I just wanted to thank all! I'm very, very happy! And thank you Sean!” Everyone at Arcana is praying that Stefani takes the gold on June 11th.

Finally, for a sample of Arcana’s awarding winning books, Stefani’s exceptional coloring, and a number of original, full color short stories featuring 100 Girls, Ezra, Kade, and Starkweather, please hunt down your free copy of our FREE COMIC BOOK DAY effort, ARCANA STUDIO PRESENTS #2, available this Saturday May 7th! These tales present our established characters for new readers while offering new insights into them for existing fans. And each creator has gone out of their way to make their story a cut above their previous work!

“Last year’s Arcana Studio Presents #1 received high marks from a number of reviewers and the fans ate it up,” offered Sean O’Reilly, “however, this year we have blown #1 right out of the water! And riding hot on the heels of the Shuster Awards and Stefani’s nomination… well, none of us could be happier! 2005 is shaping up to be Arcana Studio’s year, and we would just like to thank all of our fans for making us what we are! Thank you!”
