Director Bryan Singer (X-Men, X2: X-Men United) will serve as a producer on X-Men: First Class, a prequel film chronicling the formation of the mutant superhero team, reports Deadline.com. However, Singer won’t be available to direct, as he’ll be tied up with Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ Jack the Giant Killer.

Writer Jamie Moss (Street Kings) has turned in a screenplay based on Singer’s treatment to Twentieth Century Fox, the studio behind the X-Men movie franchise. Fox is also planning a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, although it is unclear at this point which film will go into production first.
