“For over a thousand generations the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times, before the Empire.”
—Ben Kenobi
In Star Wars Dark Times, the time period referenced in Ben Kenobi’s immortal words is finally unlocked! The new series to be released this fall from Dark Horse Comics will move into the new, unexplored territory of the time period immediately following Revenge of the Sith, with references to the Del Rey novel Dark Lord.
"True to the series' title, Dark Times, the first arc—The Path to Nowhere—is a dark, bleak, plunge into the kind of despair one would imagine would follow a Sith takeover of the galaxy," says editor Randy Stradley.
Even as the worlds of the former Republic are drawn into the iron grip of Palpatine’s Empire, the galaxy seems adrift in a sea of chaos, lawlessness and despair.
On Coruscant, Darth Vader waits for his Master to reveal his vision for the future. But is there a plan beyond obtaining power? On New Plympto, Jedi Master Dass Jennir leads a Nosaurian army in a war they have already lost. Is this what it now means to be a Jedi?
"While well-known characters like Vader and Palpatine are integral to the plot," says Stradley, "the story really focuses on new and lesser-known characters who find themselves suddenly adrift in this new era."
Dark Times #1 is the gateway to a new era in Star Wars history, one where the future is grim, evil is on the rise, and all paths seem to lead nowhere . . .
The new five part mini-series, Star Wars Dark Times: The Path To Nowhere features new story by Welles Hartley and Mick Harrison, with art by Doug Wheatley. The first issue arrives on sale October 25 carrying a $2.99 price tag.
