Industrial Light + Magic has been appointed as the lead visual effects house on Marvel Studios’ Iron Man, with Visual Effects Supervisor Ben Snow leading the team.

ILM’s sister company, Skywalker Sound, is responsible for sound design and mixing, while Deluxe’s DI business Efilm, will handle color and mastering on the film.

In response to the news, Marvel’s president of production Kevin Feige told The Hollywood Reporter "We are thrilled to partner with Industrial Light + Magic on Iron Man. The visual effects expertise they bring to this project fit perfectly with the high-tech look and feel of this film."

Charlie Davis, Marvel's senior vp postproduction, added, "The postproduction process on a movie of this scope is always very complex, and having ILM create the visual effects, Skywalker Sound design and mix the sound and Efilm digital color time the picture all in close proximity up in San Francisco is the best of all worlds come together."
