Marvel Comics today announced its big 2011 event at Manhattan comic store Midtown Comics. The crossover, titled ‘Fear Itself’, kicks off in March and will be handled by the creative team of writer Matt Fraction (Invincible Iron Man, Thor) and artist Stuart Immonen (New Avengers).

The crossover will follow a framework similar to most of Marvel’s big spring/summer events in recent years. Like Civil War, World War Hulk and Siege, there will be a main mini-series that forms the core of the story and which readers can choose to read as a standalone tale, while other story beats will play out in several linked titles. Fear Itself will span 7 issues.

Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada and VP – Executive Editors Axel Alonso and Tom Brevoort were on hand this morning at Midtown Comics for a special press conference, where they unveiled the trailer for the event, and showed a video message of Matt Fraction, who offered a few more details about Fear Itself.

Check below for videos of the press conference, the trailer and Matt Fraction's commentary.

so Age Of Heroes (the positive swing after all the mayhem from last years) has come to a close and now it is time to get all dark again (after Dark Wolverine, Shadowland etc.)?
    Yes... I am skeptical :p
